Several Stuffs : First One

No, this is not an article, neither a philosophy nor some adventure stories. These are just several stuffs that any normal human being might think about. While writing this I have lived 24 years 4 months and 14 days i.e 292 months and 14 days or 1271 weeks and 5 days. I just calculated to know how many months I have lived on this planet to write several stuffs of my life. Please, don't start to count your own age and days.

There were many random thoughts that come and goes away from my mind. Some thoughts that have remained like a cliff 'firm and unaltered'. Sometimes from nowhere there comes a confidence that I can do something great with this blessed life and sometimes I just lose all the hopes. I believe this happens to you also or am I the only one?

There are some small success stories till now and few bundles of failure. But still, I don't call it a failure just because a grade card says fail. I failed CA Final not once but twice. And this November it's the third one. God bless, hopefully ......... There are lots of failed trip I just planned. Once in a life time, I have a dream to close all the running chapters of my life and pack my bags and go for an adventure. I believe everyone does have. I am writing this, just in case I get too busy with my life and I didn't have time for this adventure plans this blog will remind me this was the first wish I made.

The politics of Nepal is still unhealthy. Corruption is everywhere. While writing this the big story is of Chudamani Sharma (Chairman of Kar Farchyot Aayog i.e a body formed by the government to give tax deductions). I don't know what basis they are giving tax reliefs. It surprises me when none of the company which is applying for these benefit is declared as sick companies or bankrupt. It was just a corruption window opened by Dr. Ramsharan Mahat (the then Finance Minister). While writing these I have been part of several political changes in Nepal. From protest against monarchy to constitution and now almost completed first local election. It took more than a decade and still the politics as well as the economy is volatile.

I don't know, youth like us will get the better working environment in Nepal or like millions of Nepalese we have to go to some third countries to secure bread, butter and future. But I have a faith today, something good will happen.

My country is moving backwards because everyone is busy doing politics. Students busy with students unions, teachers busy with the teachers union, even bureaucrats who are there to serve people taking salaries from our tax are busy with their own unions. Advocates busy with unions and courts are now indirectly controlled by politicians because a judge is appointed in such a way. Businessmen don't have an environment to do business as independent businessman i.e, without affiliation to any party just because everything is controlled by politicians. Several special permits are provided by committee rather than government bodies. And those committees are filled up by politicians.

I hope in this new sovereign model these things will be systematic. Politicians will be disciplined, courts will be free, committees will be replaced by bodies, students will learn, research and study more, teachers will be teaching at a school, forming political bodies for bureaucrats will be illegal and so on.

I have already mentioned how long I have lived and reading above paragraph you might feel this is depressing life. But there is a hope. For the first time in 20 years, we had a local election this year and state and national elections are up to be scheduled. This is a small but fine ray of hope for youth like us.

But silently more is happening. Farming is getting modernized phenomenally. Farmers have started to urge government bodies regarding their problems and government bodies are now forced to listen to farmers. Slowly farmers are now moving for organic farming as cities are worrying more about their health concerns. Let's see what happens in next five years. Still, a lot to do, we don't have organic pesticides or insecticides manufacturer till date, many farmers are unaware of ways to make enriched compost manure.

Tourism still is not doing too well. We have failed to market ourselves more effectively. Need to make more documentaries, promotion campaigns and increase infrastructure. I have a hope from guys like Sisan Baniya who are trying to make a breakthrough with awesome Vlogs. Let's see what happens in future but definitely, tourism needs to be developed.

I don't know how long this is going to be but I am writing with no expectation from readers. I am just writing for myself for future. From past few days, I haven't studied but my exams are due in November. I hope I will be fit from tomorrow onward.

Several things need to be improved in Nepal and that is where I can see opportunity. Our post offices fail to deliver at a house, our internet service providers fail to give promised services, no online payment facilities, half population don't have access to banking facilities, renewable energy under utilized and many resources just under utilized.

Youth like us can make everything accessible under the command but it will take time. I have a dream where the farmer doesn't need to go to District Agriculture Office to know cure of the disease in his farm. I have a dream where a farmer can directly sell into the market without a middleman. Where every farmer can provide quality education to their children and every farmer can afford to get good health services. And for this, I don't need to be a politician. I should continue with my entrepreneur mindset.

While writing this, I have written a plan to promote Nepali products. For this, I was planning to make an online directory and later change into a marketplace. I tried to purchase a domain from the person named Raj Gyawali (Social Treks) but he denied saying he has planned something great to do the with domain. Hope I will come with some other great domain name in future. This is one among several stuffs I would like to accomplish.

Just today, I the read headline in Economic Times in India which states," 12 trillion dollars can be earned by solving the social problems." Might be not such big, but opportunity lies equal in Nepalese context.

With these stuffs I am concluding: Several Stuffs First One. In future wherever I would have several stuffs, I would definitely write here.

The first adventure of WeAdvent

A brief walk-through

If everything was as easy as dreaming then terms like planning, patience, hard work, team work etc wouldn't have existed. All our ideas or dreams would become useless if it remains in the same form. Taking something out of your brain and exercising it in real world requires a lot of courage. And from past one year, that courage was absent and if it was present, then it was so weak that it made no effort to come in the real world. Simply for us, it took a year to gather a courage to start something that we are passionate about. Uplifting Nepalese  tourism, lives of Nepalese through tourism.

The first brilliant idea of tourism was thrown to me by Santosh Acharya,my colleague and co-founder of WeFinance. After that, I became  irresistible. Naming the company itself was so difficult. Santosh and I came out with 100 names. But to find the name that completely matches our interest and that becomes a pillar to create brand 'We' was a difficult task. The process of finding a suitable name took more than months. I tried to take the suggestion of a travel company from all my good friends circle. And at last we both agreed to take a brand name WeAdvent. A short form of WeAdventure (because domain weadventure was not available)

Possibilities in impossibility

Tourism remains much hyped business in Nepal but unluckily few sincere players can create no big impact. Now the need in tourism industry needs the entrance of quality minded business people who can create a impact on overall tourism sector in Nepal. Although there are lot of challenges like infrastructure, investment, strong regulations and corporate governance, social, political etc but it is still possible. If we won't start it today, 10 years down the line, all we can do is regret. So better to start today.

Team is strength

One of our informal and socially motivated business practise in Laxminagar (New Delhi) is  WeFinance Association. It took a good shape in our Nepalese community in Laxminagar in past one year. Many student believe that we were able to stand because of our unique organisation and for being able to help students in short term financial needs. But that is the part story.WeFinance is successful because of it's team. It is because management being flexible at the same time keeping our ethos unchanged

Taking the lesson from WeFinance we are trying to make our WeAdvent management stronger. We needed such person who had 100 times more passion to travel than both of us. Such a person who can handle the difficult situation, can take the risk with big chest. Now although we three have different personalities we have common mission.  And we welcomed Diwakar Pandey in our board room.

First Trekking to Triund

There were lots of options for our first trip. From sight seeing in Manali to Trekking in Kheer Ganga. We preferred trekking over everything. Because we want to experience little bit of adventure and analyze it. Trekking in Nepal is considered as one of the best adventure trip. So, we wanted to start with same thing in India. The plan of Kheer Ganga was cancelled due to snowfall. And then planning of Triund began.

This was the first trip we were going to organise. We wanted it to be flawless. The feelings used to be mixed. Actually there were three feeling; excited, nervous and confident. And we were deep inside this vicious circle.

WeGroup along with few noted person became our first formal customer. As a team, we all were having a first experience. Arranging everything smoothly was a challenge. From vehicle to toothpaste, there were so many things to be taken care of.

Grandson : Earn before you spend

My childhood memories are blur now. I can't remember all those childhood days but some memories are still vivid. We used to visit our parents during vacation. And those vacations were what we all used to count.

As a child I was mischievous, enthusiastic, used to speak with lisp, cry like mad and laugh like devil. I have made a lot of mistakes and some of those mistakes have given greatest lessons of my life.

As a child I loved chocolates a lot and still I do. I used to ask Rs 10 with my Grand Father. Sometimes he used to give it but at times I remember he used to give us a basket. A basket which could hold almost 6 Kgs of coffee beans and used to ask us to fill it with coffee beans.

We had some coffee bushes in our surroundings. We used to collect beans and he used to give us 10 rupees each saying now, you have earned it. He always insisted me to earn rather than to ask or beg. He had a clear thought that if you want to spend you have to earn it first.

And this was one among the greatest lesson I have learned from my grandfather. When it is not about Investment then it is always advised to earn before you spent.

I have read some of great business books, attended seminars and watched YouTube videos regarding personal financing. In all the forums, financial advisers are focusing on rational use of Credit Cards. They are urging people not to sell your future for present luxuries.

4 Powerful Ways to avoid "Tea Biscuit meetings"

Meetings play very crucial roles for the organization. Meetings sometime can be for general discussion, sometimes for SWOT analysis, sometimes for big decision. Practically many meetings go useless. After being on the receiving end of the complaints of many experienced managers I have decided to coin these useless meeting as “Tea Biscuit meetings”.

For better understanding let’s divide meetings into two parts.
Infograph : Four Powerful ways to avoid "Tea Biscuit Meetings"

i)   Purpose :

Be sure about the purpose of calling or attending meeting. Sometimes deviating from main topic is good to fill out the boredom and breaking ices but getting too much indulged in out of context topics is just a waste of time and resources.

I was once told that in one of so-called managerial meetings all eight participants talked about their foreign trips and at the end of session they decided to hold the further discussions and postponed the discussion of real agendas.

Does that ring any bell? Do you remember any useless meeting you have attended? Please share the worst “tea biscuit meeting” you have attended in comment box below.

ii)   Impact:

Impact is the result you have devoted your whole preparations for, from the initial phase to the end of meeting. Results can be in various forms; it can be in the form of approvals, finalization of contracts, appointments and appraisals etcetera.

6 Business Lessons I learned from Mother- These might break your School Knowledge

It is said that, “Mother is a first teacher and home is the first school.”

Just by reading the above heading if you are thinking that I am from big Industrial/Trading family then stop thinking. You are wrong. My mother simply has not completed schooling but she is entrepreneur.
Theories might be waste some time, research done and conclusion made by great scholar might fail under some circumstances.

Whatever you are taught, you have learned from books, movies or heard from some friends or seniors might not be always right.

Here I will mention some of the points along with the reasons and logic of my mother and I expect you to provide your views.

1) Every client is not equal:

Treat fairly to all the clients. If you are in service industry, serve them genuinely and if you are manufacturing industry, provide genuine products. But don’t forget all the clients are not equal.

Some clients are your friends, caretaker and will be there during your hard times. They will help you during hard times but many will change the vendor. You have to be with those clients during their hard times too

5 Powerful Ways to Take Maximum from your Interns

Hiring interns and getting job done from them is challenging task for any organisation. We can say interns are sound theoretically and new to practical world. Other major characters can be they are keen to work and learn. They are always looking for challenges and to keep good track-record for the future reference.

What I am writing is based on what I have seen and experienced. While working as an intern for the CA firm in New Delhi. In many cases, organization fail to hire appropriate interns. I have seen many firms selecting just in basis of grades and references.
Interns can be just additional cost to your company if you can't use them appropriately.
In this article we will discuss how an organization can take maximum benefits from the interns too.

World Cup 2014 : Three Important lessons your organization should learn

The countdown of world cup 2014 began from years and finally ended with a whistle.
After some days the final whistle was blown and Germans won the world cup. Some fans were sad, some were happy but this world cup gave us three IMPORTANT lessons that we must ADHERE.
Here I am comparing a football team with your organization. And if your organization has three utmost qualities that good football team has then you can achieve something higher. Every organization which will be able to inherit these three lessons is sure to rise. They can easily accomplish their vision, mission and growth objective.
In this article, please don’t expect me to talk about need of branding, how to market your products, how to win the customer etc. I am completely centered towards your organization and how should you compose it.

Lesson 1 : Your team should be strong in overall

Having only one shining star, in your team doesn’t guarantee success. Those teams which were dependent only in one star player suffered bitter loss. Let’s take Portugal and Brazil for example.
What should you do?
  • Create self-motivated and good performing team. Make them understand that leadership is not a title it’s a human quality.
  • Train your team and keep them updated.
  • Make your employee stable, show them clear picture of growth in your organization.

Lesson 2: Keep the culture of team work

Football is not one man game and so is the organization. It is not one man empire. Look at football team, how they co-ordinate with one ball. Players take their own responsibility sometime assist other to handle their responsibility.
Same should be the case in your organization.
What should you do?
  • Plan the organizational target effectively. It should be clear, feasible and optimistic.
  • Divide organizational target into departmental and further departmental targets into individual.
  • Allocate individual duty along with all the rights required to perform the duty.
  • Learn to use the available resources optimally rather than just gathering it.
The reason behind success of German football team is their team spirit. They played a good team-game and achieved the highest of Goal.

Lesson 3: Team achievement is more important

Just look at Messi, winning the golden ball is one of his biggest achievements. But look at his photo, he was not even able to smile. He was focused on team more than in his personal achievement.
If your team is also focused on your organizational goal, all will perform the best. Teach them “none of them are as smart as all of them”

What should you do?
  • Promote departmental or group wise bonuses more than the individual one.
  • Organize various programs and events continuously. You also can conduct motivational seminars or some other technical sessions which will promote                                                                             team spirit.
----------
Those three lessons from football can make your organization a happier place to work. After all, employees are the fundamental tool for the company and employees are the first brand which represents your company in market.
